William J. Berglund, ARM, CCLA
Mr. Berglund provides claim consulting services to insurance companies, reinsurers, self-insurers, risk managers and law firms. He formed Claim Consulting and Advisory Services “C-CAS” after leaving Ernst & Young LLP, where he was Partner and National Director of their Insurance Claims Consulting Group.
Under his direction the Claim Consulting Group advised Ernst & Young’s insurance industry clients on matters pertaining to their claims handling practices. Additionally, he contributed to many re-engineering, performance improvement, actuarial loss reserve and M&A due diligence engagements. While at Ernst & Young was a claims consultant to the department of liquidation for a state government.
Before Ernst & Young, Mr. Berglund was Senior Vice President and Senior Claims Officer for a large national claims administrator. There he was responsible for all operations and technical services. The technical services included risk control, insurance placement and claims administration. Before that, he served as a senior claims executive with two large insurance companies. He also served as National Claims Manager for AON Risk Services, and as a Senior Consultant with Marsh & McLennan.
Mr. Berglund’s experience encompasses all property/casualty lines. He has operational and consulting experience with third party claim administrators, the claim departments of insurance companies and claim services affiliates of insurance brokerage concerns. He also has provided expert witness testimony relating to disputes involving claim errors & omissions, bad faith, fraud and claim reserves.
Mr. Berglund earned his BS in Mathematics from Elmhurst College. He holds the Associate in Risk Management “ARM” and Casualty Claim Law Associates “CCLA” designations. Articles he has written have appeared in in Business Insurance, the National Underwriter and Self Insurer.
