Richard J. Fallquist, FCAS, MAAA
Mr. Fallquist is Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society "FCAS" and a Member of American Academy of Actuaries "MAAA." He is the owner of Fallquist Actuaries, a consulting firm that provides loss reserve projections, premium rate studies and loss reserve certifications for insurance companies.
Mr. Fallquist has been in public practice for over 35 years, most of this as a consulting actuary and developer of loss reserve software. In the mid-1980's he developed EXHIBITMAKERTM, the first user-friendly actuarial software program that could be used on micro computers. EXHIBITMAKER, which as it name implies, enabled actuaries, risk management consultants, insurance regulators and other users to make over 100 exhibits that calculated the loss developement factors, loss ratios and other statistics used to project losses, claims and expenses. The Loss Projection module enabled the analyst to project losses, allocated loss expenses and the number of claims using 12 methods, thereby saving the user time to format and program these exhibits and do the calculations by hand or using APL, Visicalc and other applications that then were not readily available to practitioners.
.
At the time EXHIBITMAKER was introduced, Mr. Fallquist was the Director of Casualty Actuarial Services of Coopers & Lybrand in Seattle. He became a partner of the firm in 1989. His clients included major property/casualty insurance companies and industrial companies with large self-insurance programs and captives. He held a similar position with Ernst & Young.
Mr. Fallquist formed Fallquist Actuarials in 1995. Since then he has supported Montclair Risk Advisors in the performance of self-insurance and captive insurance company feasibility studies, the comparative analysis of loss-sensitive casualty programs and in the conduct of other risk financing projects. Montclair Risk Advisors' clients served include Sulzer Industries, El Pollo Loco and Todd Shipyards.
